Making Technology Elemental:

Wynndalco Donates Over 100 Laptops to Schools in Durango, Mexico

David Andalcio, CEO and founder of Mokena-based IT Managed Services firm Wynndalco Enterprises, knows what it’s like to be hungry for opportunity. Raised in Trinidad and Tobago, and having emigrated to the United States as a teen, he initially learned about technology the hard way—with an American correspondence course as a

youngster to learn how to build the amplifier he could not afford. He’s got a heart for both IT and opportunity, with an especially deep interest in helping at-risk kids have the same learning opportunities as others.

“I know that education is key to turning lives around. I’ve experienced it myself, and I try to facilitate it whenever I can,” Andalcio says. “So I didn’t even need to think about helping my good friend, Oscar Fragoso, in his work to bless both children and adults in Durango, Mexico.”

Fragoso, president of the Durango Federation of the Midwest, has worked hard the past several years to even the playing field—especially in terms of technology—with schoolchildren in Durango.

“It’s hard to get computers there. Most schools don’t have them…but on a scale of one to ten of importance? It’s a twelve. The kids really need them, especially now with the pandemic because all classes are via Internet,” Fragoso explains. “Our group raises funds and gathers material donations for various communities—from technology to hospitals, ambulances, and fire trucks—that otherwise couldn’t get them.”

Put Andalcio—a key leader in Chicagoland’s Hispanic-owned businesses—and Fragoso together, and it took not long at all to determine to send several shipments of laptops to Durango’s most deserving K-12 schools. With over 100 units delivered, there are many kids getting a head start from across the miles.

“David has a generous heart, and he gives to those who need it most,” Fragoso says. “I believe education is the doorway for opportunities, so these laptops will help students learn the basics of technology to better their opportunities as they continue their schooling.” _____________________________________________________________________________________
